Well, happy Valentine’s Day!! My husband and I are celebrating by having a fascinating conversation about fish oil, and waiting for C.O.P.S. to begin.
My husband has already given me my present. To understand, you’ll need some important background info: I am extremely successful at avoiding ‘real’ exercise by spending my time at the gym strolling on the treadmill watching Giada De Laurentiis.
Earlier this week, my Prince Charming talked to his spin instructor at the gym on my behalf. He explained to her that I just needed to find a good class that I liked in order to take my exercising to the next level (that being the level where I actually break a sweat).
Well, lucky me! She teaches all kinds of classes! She teaches a class on Saturday morning and would be waiting for me! She promised to make me feel welcome and give me a special orientation! YAY! Now I would be a total schmuck if I didn’t go. So I did. And of course, I loved it. So his gift to me – exercise I can’t be a wuss about. And my give to him – admitting he was right.
I hope your Valentine’s Day was equally as rewarding. Another thing I did today was a mystery shop. Some of you might be interested in this, especially these days. My advice is to start with the Volition website. There is a section on mystery shopping that will help a lot in getting you started. Once you sign up with a few services, they will tell you when there is a ‘shop’ in your area. You decide if you want it, and then apply for it. I don’t know how they decide who gets the shops. Sometimes you win, sometines you don’t.
If you are accepted, you get the guidelines and a copy of the survey (or other information) you will need to use to evaluate whoever you are mystery shopping. It is kind of fun, but sometimes the surveys are long and I pretty much stick to things I would do anyway. They typically cover the cost of the service, plus a shop fee which varies.
I am just in it for a little extra cash, and the occasional free dinner (or oil change, or car wash). If you want to get really serious about it, check out a blog called Money Saving Methods. I read it every day, but it makes my head spin. She is tireless in her efforts (much more than just mystery shopping) and really works it. I’m too lazy, but maybe you will be more energetic and make the big bucks 🙂
