Menu Plan Monday – Best of the Blogs


I have been even more dedicated to searching for new recipes on other blogs and recipe websites than usual lately.  I’ve been everywhere, man.  So I bring to you a very (I think) interesting collection of recipes that will bring to us a very (I think) interesting menu for the week.  I am not totally certain of the sides yet; they are typically a salad though.


Slow Cooker Steak Fajitas, from the blog “from mommy’s kitchen“.


Lentil Salad from the blog “Mother’s Kitchen“.  The post is entitled, “Lentils that my husband will eat…”


Dirty Risotto; again from the blog “from mommy’s kitchen“.  I will be substituting Chorizo for the Italian Sausage and bacon for the pancetta.


Oven Baked Chicken with Baking Miracle (this is kind of like Shake-n-Bake; the recipe is on the box)

Green Beans (frozen) 

Slow Cooker Chocolate Pudding Upside-Down Cake from the blog “Ramblings of a Crazy Woman” for desert.


Two-Mustard Chicken from the blog, “Don’t Eat Baby“. (More chicken.  Think they’ll notice? Probably…)


Pizza night (take out), as I am going to the Women’s Expo and my family will be on their own.


Indian Tacos.  I love the sound of this, and the blog “The Full-Handed Housewife” provides a tutorial for making them, complete with pictures.  I will be making my own ranch beans, so I’ll use this Food Network recipe.

  1. Hey, thanks so much for commenting on my blog! I’m loving my crock pot this week, especially with not feeling well. Takes the food prep time and tosses it out the window.

    A few suggestions though, on the ones that I have made up to this point. All recipes were new to me, and this is what I found.

    The Slow Cooker Turkey Sandwiches were nice, but I couldn’t bring myself to eat it again for leftovers. The taste was a bit.. powerful. And yes, it has to be eaten hot (velveeta gets clumpy when cold lol).

    The Creamy Red Potatoes? Par-boil them first. And it didn’t taste right with the skin on them. Was much too earthy for the cheesy sauce that went on it. Not bad, but certainly not a do-over around here.

    The Hearty Beans with Beef? Tres yummy. I suggest making a few handfuls of macaroni and toss it in with it (odd, yes.. but it worked) because it turned out to be a bit.. skimpy. Plus, if you don’t like baked beans.. do NOT use this recipe. It’s basically a baked bean casserole with beef. Good, but.. only so much baked beans one person can eat.. right?

    Will add you to my blog roll.. your week looks great. Let me know how that chocolate pudding upside down cake turns out!

  2. Great menu! I have been collecting recipes from blogs also. But I always forget to use them when planning my menu.

  6. Nothing wrong with eating chicken more than once per week… I’d eat it 3-4 times if I could! (It’d get expensive after a while as I prefer white meat).
