I mentioned earlier this week that I have been working during this holiday season. I am especially looking forward to Thanksgiving this year because not only will I have the chance to get together with my Dad, sister, Grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins; I will get a chance to eat dinner with my husband and children for the first time in a few weeks.
This is a temporary situation for us, but I miss them! I have been thinking a lot about how imporant the family dinner is. My husband worked third shift for a year and not having that daily meal together was really hard for me.
Apparently I am not the only person with dinner on the brain. Recently The Mentor Mom wrote a post on her blog about how important this can be to families. I stumbled across a new website called Gather ‘Round The Table that offers suggestions about how to make this happen in your family.
I wonder why this is so important? Are we programmed to eat with our families? If families are not able to eat together because of work schedules or other reasons, are there other ways to achieve the benefits? I am curious what other families do. Is mealtime a big deal in your house?
With that I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and I hope you are all able to enjoy this day!
