Back To Life, Back To Reality

AmishEven though the weather is saying “It’s July!” I know better. It’s fall. It’s time to buckle down and do whatever it is I have been putting off all summer. Like folding laundry.

My sister Sara, Maybelle, and I took a trip to Shipshewana this past week.  I loved the slow pace and good Amish food.  I foolishly forgot to buy some of that Amish Peanut Butter, so if anyone is going that way, could you grab me a jar?

The Amish, as you know, don’t drive cars. They take horse drawn buggies or ride bikes. It’s charming. However, I am losing sleep over the fact that they don’t wear bike helmets. I am in the process of designing helmets that look like those black top hats and bonnets in case that is the issue. Put A Lid On It, guys! Sorry, Sara, I know you are totally sick of hearing about this.

Other than that, the big news is that A.P. got his first library card. I am so excited for him, and a little jealous. He got one of the cool plastic ones with the new GRPL logo on it. I am thinking of ‘losing’ mine so I can get one too.

Next week has a lot in store, and you’ll be hearing from Big Binder more than usual. All good and fun stuff, naturally! Have a great week. Both libraries ramp back up with story times this week, so click on the links to the right (“Links I Like”) to check the schedule for the branch near you.

Oh I love Shipshewana but haven’t been in a few years. My pocketbook tends to take quite a hit and we can’t afford that right now. 😉

Thank you for the tip on the safety events! The Grandville one is right near us so we’ll try to make it either tonight or tomorrow after soccer. Should be fun! 🙂
