Another Week Whizzed By

Where is this summer going?? Does anyone else experience a mild shock at seeing “Back To School” sales in the paper?

We did a few really fun things last week.  The first was the program, “Nests, Holes and Habitats” at the West Michigan Environmental Academy of Sciences. It began in the garden, where the kids fed the chickens. A nature educator then took us for a tour around the grounds of the WMAES looking for, guess what; nests, holes, and habitats.  Both of my kids had a blast.  I’m not sure what to make of this, but I asked A.P. what his favorite part was and he said that “Holly (the educator) is CUTE!”. Umm, I guess that’s nature?

We also took a road trip to Kalamazoo to see the “Return of the Dinosaurs” exhibit at the KVCC Museum.  This was a big hit; the dinosaurs move and roar and there is one that the kids can control.  There are preschool programs (short and sweet, as a preschool program ought to be) daily.  The museum is absolutely free.  Parking in downtown Kalamazoo is usually pretty easy, but there was a festival going on so we had to walk a few blocks. Darn! Wouldn’t you know we parked right in front of Sarkozy bakery.  Well I didn’t want to be rude, so we stopped in and said hi and had a few cookies and treats. Then we were off to see the dinos.

Well, make hay while the sun shines as they say. Get out there and enjoy the rest of the summer! Here are some suggestions for the upcoming week:
