I have one elaboration, one correction, and one additional suggestion for you.
First, the Ethnic Heritage Festival at the Grand Rapids Public Museum is Saturday from 9am-6pm. Admission to the museum is free, and there will be music, dance, craft demonstrations, food, ethnic organization displays, and ethnic vendors. Also, the One Book One County selection will be announced! I am so excited. Communal reading… you can’t imagine how appealing that is to me. Check out the Grand Rapids Public Library Blog and Kent District Library Blog in the upcoming days for more info.
The Grand Rapids Family Magazine announced in it’s December 2007 issue and lists on its website that the Education and Enrichment Fair would be Saturday, January 19th from 10am-4pm. However, the Centerpointe Mall website lists this event as being February 16 in combination with another event. So, for those of you who may have seen this on the Bid Binder Calendar and planned to attend, I am not sure what happened and I apologize for the confusion. I just removed it from the calendar.
Finally, although this isn’t a ‘kids event’ per se, I have taken my kids to the Breton Village Travel Expo before. We are not in a position to be planning luxury cruises, but we do like steel drums (there will be a band there for a while) and of course Breton Village Mall offers the following:
-
The Giant Goldfish
-
Pooh’s Corner Bookstore with an endlessly patient staff
-
The Glass Elevator
-
A mini-zoo with birds, fish, and gerbils… I mean Chow Hound
-
Reasonable snack opportunities at D&W
-
Restrooms
In my book, that’s a good couple of hours of entertainment.
No, it’s not summer in the city anymore, but let’s make the best of it
